Appel à contribution (L'anglais suit - English follows)

Call for paper

The journal Polythesis. Filologia, Interpretazione e Teoria della letteratura wishes to share with an international community of scholars a dialogue developed in the last few years within the “Centro di antropologia del testo” and the doctoral program in “Studi filologici, linguistici e letterari”, both led by Massimo Bonafin at the University of Macerata.

As a development of these experiences, Polythesis intends to compose a theoretical and methodological reflection on two fundamental thematic units: the relationships between literary sciences and the humanities on one hand, the poetic and cultural-historical implications of a dialogue between medieval and modern literature on the other.

We invite contributions on the literary production from the Middle Ages to modernity, without any restrictions on the methodology employed. Polythesis will privilege proposals that strive to combine specialist knowledge with the ambition to contribute to a wider theoretical and comparatist framework capable of furthering a cross-sectoral dialogue.

Research areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Notions of form, style and structure: a response to the cultural turn?
  • Imitation / mimesis: new proposals in a time of crisis for literary studies
  • Philology and philosophy: an epistemological dialogue
  • Anthropology of literature / Literary anthropology: defining a discipline
  • Reception, re-use, re-activation of themes and motifs of medieval culture in modern and contemporary artistic products
  • Middle Ages and Postmodernism: affinities and comebacks
  • Re-functionalisation of myths, archetypes, figures, motifs
  • Problems and methodologies of translation in an intercultural perspective
  • Storytelling and performance
  • Fluidity and vitality of literary genres
  • Intermediality: interaction between text and other sensory languages
  • Typologies of authorship: from anonymity to copyright, from stock phrases to individual style
  • Internet: the popular culture of the 21st century
  • Romance philology, a comparative approach for Europe
  • Global literature

Polythesis is an on-line open-access journal published on the OJS platform of the University of Macerata (http://riviste.unimc.it/index.php/polythesis/) and is issued once a year. Submitted contributions will undergo a double-blind peer review in accordance with the procedures described on the journal website. The papers should be 50.000 characters long (including spaces), and should comply with the typographic guidelines available on the journal website.
