The Library of Glissant Studies is an open access, multilingual database dedicated to making texts by and about the Martinican author Édouard Glissant (St. Marie, Martinique 1928 – Paris, France 2011) accessible and widely available. The Library of Glissant Studies has as its objective to centralize information on Glissant’s work and thought in an open access gratis website, linked to multiple physical and digital archives which contain his manuscripts, printed and multi-media materials.

The Library of Glissant Studies has as its goal to make references and resources on and by Édouard Glissant, in whatever original languages they may have been produced, available on one dedicated platform. The pilot site (www.glissantstudies.com) is well advanced and functional. For purposes of illustration, hundreds of documents have already been uploaded to it. The inclusion of multimedia formats (texts, audio, and video materials, photography, websites and blogs, etc.) as well as printed material and digitized documents, will thereby stimulate further research, interpretation, and collaboration. The pilot demonstrates the site’s organization, structure, and navigability of the intended final project.

This collaborative project, hosted by Louisiana State University and supported by the LSU Center for French and Francophone Studies, has already established several partnerships with universities and institutions that contribute to the project (notably, Université des Antilles, Waseda University, La Casa de las Americas and the Tout-Monde Institute).

We invite every scholars and students to be a part of this project, by emailing us references (their own or others) at glissantstudies@gmail.com with a short bio and a picture. For more information or question about the project, feel free to email our team (in French, Spanish or English).
